Frontline Healthcare Workers Safety® Conferences

In 1998 Frontline Foundation convened its first national conference, Frontline Healthcare Workers Safety®: A National Conference on Working Together in the Environment of Care, to address the need for interagency, multidisciplinary continuing education programs on the topic of emerging infectious disease.

Keynote speakers included the Honorable David Satcher, MD, PhD, then Surgeon General of the United States and the Honorable Charles N. Jeffress, then Assistant Secretary of labor for OSHA. The National Institutes of Health Continuing Medical Education co-sponsored this event presented in association with OSHA, FDA, the Pan American Health Organization, the Office Safety and Septic Procedures Research Foundation, and The National Patient Safety Foundation. The conference was accredited for CE units for physicians, dentists, nurses, and industrial hygienists.

In 2000, Frontline Foundation collaborated with the NIH, OSHA, FDA, The OSAP Research Foundation, the VA, APIC, and the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses to present the Partnerships in Prevention National Frontline Healthcare Workers Safety® conference. This two-day event was certified by NIH Continuing Medical Education for category 1 CME’s as well as dental, industrial hygiene, nursing, and laboratory animal medicine continuing education units. It too focused attention on prevention of occupational transmission of infectious diseases in healthcare settings.
