National Biosafety & Biocontainment Training Program

Frontline Foundation administers the National Biosafety & Biocontainment Training Program, (NBBTP) a two-year Fellowship funded by the National Institute for Allergic and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH)/Division of Occupational Health & Safety (DOHS). Frontline Foundation Chairman and President Murray L. Cohen, PhD, MPH, CIH serves as the NBBTP Executive Director.

The mission of the National Biosafety and Biocontainment Training Program (NBBTP) is to prepare biosafety and biocontainment professionals of the highest caliber to meet the needs of the biomedical, emerging disease and civilian biodefense research communities through the 21st century.

The NBBTP offers two year post-baccalaureate and post-doctoral fellowships, certificate programs, and professional development courses. The Fellowships, based at the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD, provide a rare opportunity to receive professional training in biosafety and biocontainment at one of the foremost biomedical research center in the world.

The NBBTP Certificates and Professional Development Courses are organized along two tracks: Biosafety & Biocontainment and Operations & Maintenance. These programs are designed for personnel working in high containment facilities and are accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education Training (IACET).
